About Me

My name is Amanda Stratman, and this blog is where I document my life living and raising a family in downtown Indianapolis. While you’ll find a whole lot of Indy family-friendly activities-related content on House of Stratman, my hope is that when you visit the site, you’ll also get to know me as a person, and learn what’s truly important to me.

So… what’s truly important me?

My family. My husband (and best friend), Dean. My son, Dean III.  My friends. Downtown Indianapolis.  Mommy fashion. Traveling. Laughing so hard that it hurts. My minpin/ jack russel mix, Pepper and interior design. Late 90s, early 2000s sitcoms. Embracing new life stages. Exploring. Trying new things. Tasting new food. Taking chances. Growing.

Why a blog?

I wanted to start this blog for many reasons. The first reason is to open up the idea to urban living. I grew up in a small town. One blinking stoplight kinda town. Now I live smack dab in the heart of downtown Indianapolis. I couldn’t imagine myself or raising a family anywhere else. I feel out of place when I’m not surrounded by skyscrapers 😉

The  Mommy World

In today’s world “mom culture” is EVERYWHERE. You should be feeding your baby this, putting him/her to sleep this way, etc. Friends, family, co-workers post and share the correct way to raise a child on social media all the time. It is everywhere and it took me way longer than it should have, to realize that I need to do what is best for my family. So let the nonsense go in one ear and out the other! Trust your momma instincts. Most of all, I hope to inspire and connect with other women, so that we can be the best we can in this crazy thing we call life.
